Why Botox Is a Great Addition to Your Anti-Aging Regimen

As you get older, you start to notice more aches and pains. The things you used to do without a care, now leave you stiff and sore. And then, of course, there are the wrinkles and skin issues that make you look older than you are. Staying healthy is even more important as you age, and a good anti-aging regimen is a necessity. Botox® is a great addition to this plan.

Here at A Younger Look Wellness & Laser Center in San Jose, California, our team, led by Dr. James Andrews, strives to keep you young and healthy from the inside out. This is why we added aesthetic services to our primary care practice. Dr. Andrews knows the importance of both feeling good and looking good.

Start anew — Your anti-aging regimen

You have no control over your age or your genetics. You might have been born with, or have come to develop, some health or skin issues that have been passed down. Or maybe you haven’t taken care of yourself like you should have. The good news is that you can change your bad habits, and it’s never too late to start a healthy, anti-aging regimen.

A healthy diet

Eating healthy foods is the first step, but you need to eat the right foods for you. Not everyone is the same, so their food intake shouldn’t be either. Keeping a healthy weight is especially important as you get older, so if you need to get fit and don’t want a fad diet that changes every week, Dr. Andrews offers a comprehensive weight loss program

Exercise

Physical activity also changes as we get older, but exercising should never stop. You might not be able to do the same things you could when you were younger, but you can adapt. Talk to Dr. Andrews about your current fitness plan so he can advise you on how to move forward and find the right exercises and activity.

Get enough sleep

Sleeping seems simple enough, but as we get older we may develop some sleep issues that prevent a continuous 6-8 hours a night. And deep sleep is when the body rests and heals. We’re also here to help with any sleep disorders.

Stop smoking

Aside from the long list of health issues that smoking causes, it can also take its toll on your face and make you look much older and weathered. “Smoker’s face” is when your skin is dry and flat, like leather, and filled with wrinkles and creases. Don’t let smoking ruin your skin.

Skincare

Proper hygiene basics can do a lot to protect your skin. Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser, and apply moisturizer and sunscreen. And don’t forget your lips, which can burn and age, too. If you feel sweat or dirt on your face throughout the day, just rinse it off with some water and pat it dry. Also, exfoliate regularly, but as with any skin products, be gentle.

Now add Botox into the mix

As good as your skin regimen is, it won’t be enough to remedy certain skin conditions. As you age, those wrinkles are going to get deeper and more pronounced. And if you squint, laugh, or frown, it’s going to cause lines on your face. Botox helps with all of this.

Botox is technically a toxin, but when injected into the skin by a trained professional like Dr. Andrews, it safely keeps the muscles from contracting and relaxes them, and therefore, softens the lines and wrinkles around them. It works on crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines (that are found on the skin between the eyebrows), chin dimples, and frown, lip, smile, and squint lines.

Some of these conditions might also benefit from adding a dermal filler to the treatment plan. This is another type of injection that uses various ingredients to fill in, plump up, and reduce the look of lines and wrinkles.

Botox is minimally invasive, and the treatment takes only a few minutes. You’ll see the results within three-seven days, and they’ll last about three-four months, so you’ll need to repeat the procedure to maintain the effect. Dr. Andrews covers all the details and follows up with you to make sure there are no issues or side effects. The injections may cause some minor pain, and you could have bruising, swelling, or even a headache afterward.

The combination of the right primary care and aesthetic treatments will help you look and feel healthy and young. And now is a great time to get started with Botox so you can take advantage of our September discount. Call us for a free consultation (click on the link to get started).
